Boeing to install high-speed internet on new 737 aircraft

Travelers who purchase a business class ticket may soon be able to take advantage of high-speed internet on their next long flight.

Boeing recently announced that it will install a wireless broadband connection on the Boeing Business Jet 737 aircraft, in order to make it easier for business travelers to finish up last-minute changes to a presentation or stay up-to-date with their e-mail.

The new aircraft will feature an eXConnect internet system, which is designed by Panasonic Avionics.

eXConnect will provide passengers with an internet connection that will boast a speed of up to 50 Mbps - the fastest available broadband on any plane.

“The eXConnect system installed on the Boeing 737 continues to exceed our expectations, and we are very excited to show customers," Paul Margis, CEO of Panasonic Avionics Corporation, told the news source.

The Boeing 737 is the perfect plane in order to install a fast internet connection, mainly due to its size. The larger antennas can be mounted on the aircraft in order to receive a fairly strong signal throughout the duration of the flight.
