British Airways unveils details of new first class cabin

British Airways has unveiled some of the features of its new first class cabins, which are expected to debut sometime later this year, reports eTravel Blackboard.

Seats in the new first class cabin will be 12 inches wider than seats offered in British Airways' previous premium service, and passengers in first class will be able to enjoy cabin features like extra-large wardrobes and Egyptian cotton sheets. A personal concierge works to aid travelers in flight, even providing a new turndown service.

All first class passengers will be able to enjoy a 15-inch entertainment screen and USB charging ports. Travelers will also receive an amenity kit containing D.R. Harris & Co. eye gel, lip balm and moisturizer in an Anya Hindmarch bag.

Additionally, the first class cabin will feature specially designed mood lighting that changes throughout the flight.

"The new mood lighting system not only integrates the various cabin lights, but also the wash lights on the personal electronic blinds and the suite ambient light, to create various scenes throughout the flight," British Airways customer experience development manager Richard d'Cruze said. "The mood lighting system is one of the most sophisticated fitted to an aircraft."
