Etihad Airways given award for best first class cabin in the world

For first class travelers who were wondering which airline offered the most luxurious cabins in the skies, the 2010 World Travel Awards has nominated the top airlines in the world, making it easier for travelers to make an informed decision.

This year, the award for Best First Class Cabin and World's Leading Airline went to Etihad Airways. The airline, based out of Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, beat out other nominees for the award, including American Airlines, British Airways, Emirates and Singapore Airlines.

This is the second consecutive year that the airline has won the World's Leading Airline award, since it has launched five new routes along with playing a pivotal role in the resurgence of the airline industry in Asia.

More than 5,000 companies were nominated for this years 2010 World Travel Awards, and the winners were selected by more than 180,000 industry professionals and customers from around the world.

“This year, like the last, continues to challenge every strata of travel and tourism," said Graham Cooken the founder of World Travel Awards. "However tonight’s World Travel Awards winners see struggle not as sign of weakness or failure, but as an opportunity for growth and renewal, and a chance to put their business model through the ultimate test.”
