Lufthansa to serve fresh Turkish produce onboard

Business travelers may soon taste a difference in freshness of their fresh produce served onboard their upcoming Lufthansa flight.

The airline recently announced that it will be serving fruits and vegetables from Turkey, according to WorldBulletin.net.

Lufthansa's catering company, LGS Sky Chiefs, has now partnered with Gunesler Gida, a Turkish producer and exporter of fresh fruits and vegetables after two years of negotiations.

The two companies have set up a new firm, Star Food Antalya, with a 2.5 billion Euro investment, in August, according to the news source. The new company will begin production at the end of this year and will employ 70 people.

The new company will provide Lufthansa premier class passengers with fresh fruits and vegetables very soon with plans to expand service to include sandwiches and even hot dishes.

Lufthansa is the world's fifth largest airline in terms of passengers carried between its 18 domestic and 183 international destinations, according to the airlines website. Combined with its subsidiaries, the company has the third largest airline fleet in the world.
