Malaysia Airlines recently announced that it was ranked 7th in the "Top 10 Airlines in the World" category in the Best in Travel Poll 2010, which was conducted by Smart Travel Asia.
The airline, known for its premier class luxuries, moved up the rankings by one spot this year, according to Smart Travel Asia. The airline also received 5th and 6th positions for cabin service and top business class respectively.
Singapore Airlines was voted into the top spot, while Cathay Pacific, Emirates and Thai Airways came in second, third and fourth respectively. Lufthansa shared the seventh rank with Malaysia Airlines, according to the magazine.
Polling took place between May and July 2010, and took into account that 20 percent of the voters came from Europe, 60 percent from Asia and 20 percent from the U.S.
The airline is also looking to expand and expects to add new aircraft every year through 2014. New Boeing 737 planes are expected to be delivered in October of this year, which would make Malaysia Air the first Asian airline to have the new Boeing Sky interior.
