Travel website Skyscanner names top 10 airlines for in-flight meals

A new survey of frequent fliers conducted by travel search engine Skyscanner has revealed the top 10 airlines with the best in-flight meals, reports the Australian.

The 1,200 people invited to participate in the survey named Emirates' onboard catering as their favorite, citing its exotic flavors and generally high quality.

"Emirates is passionate about providing great in-flight cuisine and we see it as a crucial part of our product offering," Robin Padgett, the Dubai-based carrier's vice president for aircraft catering, told the source. "Individual menus are carefully planned for each route we serve to ensure we cater for the diverse cultures and preferences of our international customers."

German carrier Lufthansa took second place in the survey, followed by Singapore Airlines in third place. Rounding out the top 10 were Russian carrier Aeroflot, Qatar Airways, Malaysia Airlines, Thai Airways, Abu Dhabi-based Etihad Airways, Dutch flag carrier KLM and Air France.

"Although there are some notable exceptions, airlines are making huge efforts to provide good-quality meals, with many even appointing celebrity chefs as consultants," said Barry Smith, the director of Skyscanner.
