TravelPlus names top airline amenity kits

British travel magazine TravelPlus has announced the winners of its 2010 Airline Amenity Bag Awards, with prizes given out in 12 categories covering all classes of service, both in the air and on the ground.

In the first class categories, Oman Air won for its women's amenity kit and came in second place in the men's category, where Emirates took the top prize. Swiss International Airlines took top marks for its first class unisex kit.

"Oman Air is extremely proud to have won these awards, especially against such strong competition," carrier chief commercial officer Abdulrazaq Alraisi told the source. "Our amenity kits contain everything the premium traveler needs to ensure they arrive at their destination relaxed, refreshed and revitalized."

Business class winners included Kingfisher Airlines for the women's kit, Saudi Arabian Airlines for the men's kit and Air Berlin in the unisex category. Kingfisher and Saudi Arabian Airlines also took second place in the men's and women's categories, respectively.

Other winners included Cathay Pacific for the chairs in its lounge at Hong Kong International Airport, Air Astana for its children's amenity kit and United Airlines for its environmentally sustainable kit.
