Vietnam Airlines purchases new porcelain tableware for business class cabins

Vietnam Airlines, the national carrier of the Southeast Asian country, has announced that passengers in its business class cabin will soon be able to dine using tableware provided by one of the nation's leading porcelain makers, reports Vietnam News.

The airline recently revealed that Minh Long 1 Limited, a company based in the province of Binh Duong, will provide the airline with more than 1 million individual items over the first two years of its contract, which begins in mid-2011.

Each of the new porcelain plates will feature a design called "Apricot Blossom," which Minh Long 1 general director Ly Ngoc Minh said was an embodiment of the beauty of Vietnam.

"The introduction of the newly designed crockery will help Vietnam Airlines improve its services, especially for business class passengers," said Pham Ngoc Minh, general director of Vietnam Airlines. "The cooperation with Minh Long 1 is part of a plan to make Vietnam Airlines one of the top 10 Asian airlines providing [the] best ground and in-flight services to passengers."

Vietnam Airlines is a member of the Skyteam airline alliance, which also includes Delta Air Lines, so American business class passengers on alliance codeshare flights in Southeast Asia will be able to enjoy the new porcelain flatware.
