Virgin Atlantic Launches The Largest Business Class Bed + Bar In The Sky
With eight shades of bordello pink mood lighting, Swarovski crystal curtains and a new lounging chair that converts into a 7 foot 2 inch bed, the all new Virgin Atlantic Upper Class Suite took to the skies this week.
Finally, a bed in the air long enough for basketball players!
Initially only available on Virgin Atlantic's new A330 aircraft on the London to New York route, the upgraded cabin will be rolled out across the fleet through 2014. The all new suites, already being dubbed "dream suites" cost more than $160 million and took four years in the making.
The all new bar has been removed from the Upper Class cabin and has been placed in its own stand alone area. Stretching more than 8-feet long, Virgin Atlantic estimates eight passengers can belly up to the bar at once to socialize, making it the biggest bar in the sky.
Using soft espresso leather, the new Upper Class Suite seats are 1.5 inches wider and recline 50% more and fold out to a whopping 7 foott, 2 inch bed, making this the biggest bed of any business class. A new opaque window has been installed into each suite to allow for increased light with privacy.
The meal services have also been overhauled and upgraded, new items include full English tea service, only in the afteroon, of course and coupe champagne glasses.
You can just hear Sir Richard chortling on about how his beds and bars are bigger than yours next time he runs into his good mates from British Airways! To see a virtual tour check out PlaneView, a new Virgin Atlantic website created specifically to showcase the newly revamped Upper Class Suites.
