Winners of the 2010 Cellars in the Sky Awards announced

Business Traveller has announced the winners of its 2010 Cellars in the Sky Awards, which honor the best wines served in first and business class cabins.

Australian flag carrier Qantas was the top winner, earning the number one spot in the first class white, first class red and first class sparkling categories. The airline also won in the general categories for best business class cellar, best first class cellar and top consistency of wines between business and first class. Qantas's six awards tops its haul of four prizes last year.

Qatar Airways, the national airline of the Middle Eastern country of Qatar, also took home multiple prizes, winning in the categories for best business class sparkling, business class fortified/sweet and first class fortified.

Air New Zealand won two awards, bringing home top marks for their business class red wine and the best-presented wine list.

A record total of 36 airlines submitted samples to Business Traveller for consideration for the awards, which have been given out annually since 1985. To be eligible for a best cellar prize, airlines must have submitted at least one white, one red and one sparkling wine.
