Alaska Airlines lounges to stay open later

In an effort to cater to late-night travelers, Alaska Airlines has announced that it will extend the hours of three of its premium lounges at air hubs on the West Coast, according to a press release.

At present, three of the five Board Room facilities operated by Alaska Airlines have already expanded their hours. The lounges in Portland and San Francisco will now stay open until 9 p.m. every day, whereas they had previously closed early on Saturday. The Portland lounge opens daily at 5 a.m., while the San Francisco lounge begins welcoming guests at 6 a.m. Sunday through Friday and 7 a.m. on Saturday.

The third lounge that is now open longer is in Seattle. Previously, the facility closed at 9 p.m. on Saturdays, but thanks to Alaska Airlines' new policy, the Seattle Board Room will remain open until 10:30 p.m. every day of the week.

The most significant expansion of hours, however, will be at the Board Room in Anchorage. This lounge opens every day at 5 a.m., staying open until 9:30 p.m. Sunday through Friday and 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Beginning on June 11, this lounge will stay open until 1:30 a.m. every day, meaning that Alaska Airlines premium passengers can have access to the facility for four to six more hours.

"We listened to our members who requested longer hours at our lounge in Anchorage and on the weekends at our other Board Rooms," said Caroline Boren, the managing director of loyalty marketing and customer advocacy at Alaska Airlines. "These new hours will offer nighttime and weekend travelers even greater access to a place where they can relax and enjoy our personal service."

In addition to the lounges in Anchorage, Portland, San Francisco and Seattle, Alaska Airlines also operates a Board Room at Los Angeles International Airport. Guests at these premium retreats can take advantage of a wide range of amenities, including comfortable furniture, business work stations with integrated power, free wireless internet access and large-screen TVs. The lounges also offer a range of food and drink options such as complimentary juices, soda, coffee, espresso, beer, wine and cocktails, while the Board Room staff prepares snacks like pancakes, soup and vegetables throughout the day.
