British Airways chooses company to install top-quality wireless internet in lounges

British Airways, the flag carrier of the United Kingdom, has awarded a contract to a British company to install top-of-the-line wireless internet equipment at several premium airport lounges throughout the country, according to Reuters.

Under the terms of the agreement, British Airways lounges throughout the U.K., including eight facilities at London Heathrow Airport, will receive wireless internet service from Spectrum Interactive.

According to the source, Spectrum will provide internet access that has been optimized for smartphones and hand-held devices. This helps fulfill British Airways' goal of offering the best possible experience for its passengers.

"Our passengers quite rightly expect reliable and convenient internet connectivity in our lounges as part of our offering as a premium airline," explained Nick Teale, British Airways' worldwide networks manager. "Spectrum offers the capability, coverage and dedicated engineering base to meet our needs, so that we deliver the robust and resilient wifi solution that our customers demand."

Daniel Gray, the director of Spectrum's travel division, added that his company - which currently operates internet services in more than 50 airline lounges - was honored to be selected under British Airways' exacting criteria.
