Etihad Airways opens new lounge in Manchester, UK

Etihad Airways, the flag carrier of Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates, recently opened a new lounge for its first and business class passengers at Manchester Airport in the United Kingdom, reports Manchester Confidential.

The new lounge, opened by manager Roberto Mancini of the Manchester City Football Club, complements similar venues in Abu Dhabi, Frankfurt and London as the airline pushes to expand its traffic in Europe.

The Manchester lounge features five-star dining with cuisine from all over the world, a business center, a prayer room, a relaxation area with leather chairs and a large library selection, luxurious bathroom and shower facilities and views of the airport's taxiway and runway.

Etihad has operated a route between Abu Dhabi and Manchester since 2006. The airline has significant business interests in the region, particularly its sponsorship of the Manchester City Football Club, and has plans to expand service between the two cities by 60 percent. The service expansion comes with the introduction of the Boeing 777, which features a record number of business class seats, to the route.
