American Airlines introduces iPhone app

Cell phones are revolutionizing the travel industry as American Airlines announces the first version of its iPhone application.

The free app for the iPhone and iPod Touch will allow customers to stay connected to the airline while traveling, in an effort to give passengers more control of their travel experience. The app will allow customers to do a variety of things from their phone, such as viewing personal flight details and accessing a mobile boarding pass.

The application will also provide customers with their departing gate and seating information, along with elite travel status and even a layout of the terminal that they will be departing from.

“The app is the latest in a series of customer technologies we’ve introduced to help improve the customer experience and we are developing immersion apps for a wide range of other mobile devises,” said Monte Ford, the airlines senior vice president of IT and CIO. “In fact, mobility is at the heart of much of what we are implementing today to dramatically improve our customers’ interaction with American.”

The app was designed using both customer and employee input, making it a useful tool for everyone using the airline. ADNFCR-3467-ID-19912108-ADNFCR
