Continental takes top honors in airline survey, but concerns about United service loom

Business Travel News (BTN) has released the results of its annual airline survey, and Continental Airlines has taken the top spot in satisfaction among corporate travel buyers for the third straight year.

"We are honored to once again receive this recognition, which reflects the hard work of my co-workers over the past year," Dave Hilfman, Continental senior vice president in charge of worldwide sales, said in a release.

Intriguingly, however, United Airlines - the carrier with which Continental is in the midst of a merger - finished second from the bottom. Many business travel experts expressed concern over how Continental, which has topped BTN's survey a record six times, will mix with United, which the source says is often near the bottom of the rankings.

"It will be interesting to see whether good or evil prevails," Steven Mandelbaum, information systems managing director and travel buyer for the Advisory Board Company, told BTN. "I don't know if there's anything you'd want to borrow from the United side, except for the fact that they have more planes and more locations."
