Dubai-based Emirates Airlines announced they will be adding the superjumbo Airbus A380 to DFW Airport.

Dubai-based Emirates Airlines announced Thursday that they will be adding the superjumbo Airbus A380 to DFW Airport on the route currently serviced with the Boeing 777-200. The A380 seats 489 passengers as opposed to 266 passengers on the 777 the airline currently uses on the Dubai to Dallas Ft. Worth route.

The A380 will make Emirates the largest passenger airline carrier at DFW, replacing Qantas' Boeing 747 that seats up to 372 passengers and the British Airways 747 that has a maximum capacity of 353. Emirates cited potential business and leisure demand in switching to the A380 at DFW.

DFW opened terminal D in 2005 with the capabilities to accommodate the A380 and are currently making the final additions that already include a second-level jet bridge and modifications to the airfield, taxiways and ramps.

The A380 is equipped with some of the most luxurious amenities in the sky for its' first and business class travelers. Private suites and shower spas are available for first class traveler, while flatbed seats are available in business class. Custom lighting and extra room are standard in economy class and wifi is available throughout the plane.

First Class and Business Class Onboard Lounges offer the perfect mid-flight diversions. Located on the upper deck the lounges offer hors d'oeuvres and five-star delicacies prepared by some of the world's leading chefs, as well as fine wines. A dedicated bartender is available to prepare your favorite cocktail while you socialize.

If you prefer to travel without the party, the available private suites comes fully equipped with a sliding door, a personal mini-bar, adjustable ambient lighting, and its own vanity table, mirror and wardrobe. Seats can be converted into beds if you chose to stretch out and sleep and if you are traveling with a companion the privacy divider separating the adjoining suites can be lowered, allowing you to share your experience together.

The Airbus A380 is equipped with an entertainment system that has 1,500 channels broadcasting critically acclaimed movies and TV programs as well as endless music choices, video games and news from around the world. There's always something on, so relax and enjoy.
