Emirates offers discount international airfare and improved in-flight entertainment

As the summer comes to a close, Emirates is providing two incentives for premium travelers to purchase business class tickets for upcoming flights.

First, the United Arab Emirates (UAE)-based airline is running a promotion from July 14 through August 20 in honor of Ramadan, the ninth month of the Muslim calendar, the carrier's website reports. Over the course of this period, those who observe Islam fast.

Ramadan is also a time for families to come together and observe this period, which, this year, will last from August 1 through 29. To provide these individuals with an easier way to get to their loved ones, Emirates is offering discount business class airfare.

"The UAE is largely an expatriate community with family networks often spread around the globe," said Khalid bel Jaflah, the vice president commercial UAE for Emirates. "To help bring families together during the holy month, Emirates has established these special fares."

Emirates customers can purchase business class fares for 32 destinations in Africa, Europe, the Far East, Middle east and Indian Sub-Continent. However, travelers will only be able to take advantage of this promotion if they are flying between July 21 and September 30.

Whether passengers are flying to London, Frankfurt, Cairo or Bangkok, they stand to save up to 20 percent off their purchases.

Meanwhile, coming off its recent win for the World's Best Airline Inflight Entertainment award at the 2011 Skytrax World Airline Awards, Emirates has introduced information, communications and entertainment Digital Widescreen, its latest addition to its aircraft's entertainment system.

Now, passengers who purchase business or first class tickets have the opportunity to enjoy the ice system and other upgrades that the airline has made as some of its fellow carriers cut back on these types of investments.

Through these cabin improvements, travelers can now choose from more than 1,200 channels of entertainment. For Emirates customers, this translates to more than 280 movie titles, hundreds of television programs and thousands of music tracks that they can select to make their flying experience a little more enjoyable.

Travelers who decide to purchase discount business class airfare during the month of August will have 50 new entertainment options to choose from, on top of the plethora of existing choices.
