Continental Airlines and Aegean announce code sharing plans

Flying between New York City and some of the most sought after vacation spots may have just become easier. Star Alliance partners, Continental Airlines and Aegean Airlines, recently announced plans to start a code sharing agreement between New York and Athens, along with other flights in Europe.

The agreement will start on August 23, according to the airlines' websites. Continental will place it's "CO" code on several Aegean Airlines-operated flights between Athens and six other vacation destinations in Greece. Also starting on the 23rd, Aegean Airlines will place its "A3" code on Continental's flights from New York to Athens.

"Continental is delighted to partner with Aegean Airlines"said Jim Compton, Continental's executive vice president. "The agreement will offer our US-originating customers seamless access, via Athens, to many of Greece's most popular destinations, as well as increasing travel options for our Greek customers."

The Greek cities that will be serviced will be Thessaloniki, Heraklion, Rhodes, Mykonos, Santorini and Chania, according to the airlines website.

Since both Continental and Aegean Airlines are members of Star Alliance, premier class travelers will be able to redeem mileage anywhere on the airline's global routes, along with accessing lounges.ADNFCR-3467-ID-19929910-ADNFCR
